Riviera Racers Running Club is based in Torbay, South Devon.  The club promotes its running programme to males, females and juniors aged 15+.  We take pride in running a club that promotes healthy well-being in the community for all people.

The club holds training twice weekly, on Monday and Wednesday evenings.  Training is usually held in the Torbay and Newton Abbot areas.  Training takes part on a range of surfaces and terrains including road and trail.  Other aspects covered are speed, endurance and technique.

We run a very welcoming club in a no-pressure environment, after-all everyone’s level of fitness is different!  All we ask is for your commitment, desire to succeed and you will become a good runner!

“Riviera Racers is an open club for all individuals in the community.  We recognise that everyone’s ability and fitness levels are different so it is our aim set-up individual training plans and goals to suit each individual.”

Although we are a relatively new running club, the club’s founder and coach, Daniel Butterworth has been running since he was 13 and has competed in many events across the South West.  Daniel has gained an LIRF qualification (Leadership in Running Fitness) and has an England Athletics Coaching License.  It is his knowledge, friendliness and enthusiasm that he wants to pass onto every individual in the club to improve their fitness and ultimately improve their lifestyles!

England Athletics & RunTogether

The foundations of our club are built on the ethics and grassroots model of England Athletics.  Daniel Butterworth has gained a LIRF qualification (Leadership in Running Fitness) and coaching license from England Athletics and aims to pass on the ethics, training techniques and policies to all individuals in the club.  We believe that it is imperative for all clubs at grassroots level to follow the model set out by England Athletics in order to improve fitness and well-being in general and to produce and improve athletes for national and international level.

We also pledge our services to Run Together, a scheme that runs alongside England Athletics and enables and makes it easier for individuals within their communities to get see the real benefit of getting involved in local running groups.
