What is hashing?
Hashing is non-competitive running and just for laughs. The emphasis is more on the social side of running and in particular the post-hash or “On-Inn”.
Hashing is a trail based “Hare and Hounds” style run or walk. Each week there will be a nominated “Hare” and they get to choose the starting location, hopefully from a pub, who will then set-off and lay a trail consisting of handfuls of flour dabbed along their chosen route. The chosen route will end back at the starting location (The Pub). A trail can consist of false trails, checkpoints and waiting points, the FRB’s (front running bastards) will start searching for the new trail , sometimes having to turn back having taken the false route.
Hashes usually last for around 1.5 hours.
There will be a “circle” at the end to reward or reprimand certain activities on the hash………….all in jest with the rewards/reprimands involving beer or softies for any drivers.
It’s all for good fun and not at all taken seriously!
What do I need to bring?
The routes are mainly trail although some country lanes and roads may be used. Hi-viz wear, trail shoes and head-torches and your wallet are mandatory for our hashing events.
When is the next hash?
