Riviera Racers kickstarted their weekend with no less than 5 new PBs at the local Park Runs. At Torbay Velopark Park Run they were represented by Julian Smith, 12th 19:01; Scott Cooper 55th 22:44 PB, Ben Reed 87th 24:49; Kim Collins 113th 26:39 PB, Steph Jempson 142nd 28:15, Paul Mitchell 149th 28:45 PB, Anita Newcombe 211th 32:00 and Claire Frost 32:17 PB. Karen Barnett ran at Haldon Forest Park Run finishing in 62nd 30:57 also a new PB. Well done all!
Men’s Captain Matthew Dalton continued his inspirational streak of Marathon running and fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer Action, by winning the Plym Trail Spring Series Day 1 Marathon on Saturday, completing this challenging event in 3:03:23. There was field of 17 runners. More success followed on Day 2 of the Plym Trail series, as Sonia Stevens finished in 5th place in the half marathon with a time of 2:05:35, from a field of 12 runners.
At the Ivybridge 10km on Saturday evening more PBs were on the cards as 6 Riviera Racers took part: Matt Dalton 52nd 40:53, Malc Nelson 120th 45:51 PB, Chad Nelson 352nd 53:54 PB, Lucy Nelson 383rd 55:09 PB, Sue Heywood 690th 1:06:21 PB and Maria Muzzafer 737th 1:09:32 PB. There 826 finishers. Well done team, a super effort by all!
Later that evening, Amanda Holley swapped running for walking as she journeyed to London to take part in the Breast Cancer Awareness Moon Walk – Amanda completed the nighttime ‘Full Moon’ marathon in 9:07:27
And finally, on Sunday Katie Brock took part in the Bracknell Half Marathon, completing in 2:10:30, a brilliant new PB, knocking a whopping 13 mins off her previous best time! Congratulations to all our Riviera Racers on a fantastic weekend of achievements!
