Weekly Race Report Weekend of 18th-19th May
Following on from last weekend’s successes which included Matt Dalton winning the Plym Trail Day 1 Marathon, a sweep of 5 new PBs in the Ivybridge 10km and a great new PB in the Bracknell Half Marathon for Katie Brock, Riviera Racers celebrated another fantastic weekend of running.
The local Park Runs kickstarted the weekend: At Torbay Velopark Riviera Racers were represented by Preecha Intamart 8th in 18:43, Julian Smith 13th in 19:44; Paul Ricketts 51st in 23:03 and Paul Mitchell 119th with a new PB of 28:01. At Haldon Parkrun Chad Nelson finished in 22nd place with a PB of 25:23, and at Teignmouth Park Run Sonia Stevens finished 78th in 26:33 – another PB!
Sunday was the day of Pure Trails Race the Tide series, a challenging and scenic set of races with runners aiming to beat the tide across the Erme estuary! Club Founder Dan Butterworth took part in the ‘long marathon’ and completed the 28 miles in a time of 5:41:16 (26th place); Preecha Intamart continued his streak of excellent race results in the ‘Long Half’ 15mile course, finishing 4th place in a time of 2:04:55. In the 8.5 mile Woodland Trail Riviera Racers were represented by: Chris King 16th in 1:11:12; Malcolm Nelson 24th 1:15:46; Jessica Perris 26th 1:16:31; Maria Martinez 49th 1:22:58; Lucy Nelson 82nd 1:31:42; Jenny Mansell 87th 1:33:22; Sonia Stevens 89th in 1:34:10; Stuart Chadwick 98th in 1:35:21; Emma Reece 102nd in 1:36:24; Luke Rendle 106th in 1:37:24; Sue Heywood 145th in 1:54:12; Anita Newcombe 153rd in 1:57:45. Well done on a fantastic effort by all!
In the Plymouth Ocean City Half Marathon, Amanda Holley completed in a time of 2:12:45 and the club was even represented overseas this weekend as Jon Storer braved 30 degree temperatures to successfully complete the Sea to Sea Marathon in Tobago in a time of 05:35:25. A huge congratulations to all our club members on their weekend achievements!
